This time of the year seems to be a very busy time for everyone,
finishing up planting, starting to bale hay, AIing cows,
putting in embryos, rinsing heifers, walking lambs and
this year for us as you've seen on the blog... graduation.
Tessa's high school graduation and party went very well
and we are very proud of her for her accomplishments
and the scholarships and awards she received just prior to graduation.
Since classes finished at NWMSU,
Tucker has been very busy building
an impressive list of customers for Mittag Design,
Thanks to everyone who has taken advantage of his services.
If you need print ads, banners, websites and
coming real soon Video, contact him.
He has also completed an AI class,
so hopefully can help me with that process.
We are finally done waiting for those last 2 cows to calve.
It always seems that there are those couple cows
that for some reason decide not to settle with the
rest of them and calve a lot later... Glad to be done calving anyway.
Farm Boys Hearty Food Co. has been very busy
and selling near record numbers of burritos and adding new products,
if you haven't done so already
you need to check them out on Saturday mornings
at the Downtown DesMoines Farmers' Market.
I have quite a number of shows to judge
again this summer
and the list of shows Tess wants to hit
seems to keep getting longer.
The Orient-Macksburg FFA is planning their
1st Annual hog and lamb show
on Sat., June 23rd.
Tess is a Show Co-Chairman and FFA President
so hope to see a big crowd in Greenfield.
Look for our showstring of Feeder Calves
again this year at the Iowa State Fair!
This year's calf crop is looking very impressive.
This September will be a little different for Anita and I
when both kids move off to college.
Tucker and Tess will both be attending
Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO.
In addition to a quiet house
we are moving our Showman's Choice Sale
that has been held on Labor Day
for the last 10 years to September 16.
Hopefully by moving the sale 2 weeks later
we can avoid some of that extreme August heat.
Calves will still be available for viewing
on Labor Day weekend.
Hope to see you at the sale!
